ARUT ASIST
Project title: Software application for smart intersections (ASIST)
Funded by the Fund for University Scientific Research Financing and TUIASI own revenues, grant contract ID_288, National Research Grants – ARUT, project period 01.03.2024 – 30.04.2025, total grant value 49,771 RON.

Why the project matters
Urban traffic brings together pedestrians, cyclists, public transport, freight vehicles, and private mobility services in the same high-risk intersections. Vulnerable road users are the least protected participants in these environments and remain disproportionately exposed to severe accidents.
ASIST explores how mobile applications, 5G communication, and smart-intersection perception systems can exchange relevant real-time data and help prevent critical traffic situations before they escalate.

Objectives
- Define the smart-intersection concept, relevant use cases, system requirements, and technical specifications for ASIST.
- Develop a modular software application that supports data exchange, decision support, and user-facing safety functions.
- Integrate, test, and validate the software within a smart-intersection setup.
- Coordinate project delivery, reporting, and risk management throughout the grant period.
