ARUT CREMS
The CREMS project designs and validates a secure IoT mesh network for embedded environments. The work combines networking, embedded implementation, security design, and resilience testing in a single applied research track.
Secure IoT mesh network
The proposed network follows a mesh model in which devices can communicate directly and independently. This approach supports scalability, reliability, low resource consumption, autonomy, and wider coverage.
Those characteristics are essential because the network must remain functional even when one or more nodes fail, disappear, or are actively disrupted.
Objectives
- Complete a risk analysis for a secure IoT network.
- Create a security concept covering authentication, integrity, confidentiality, and protected data storage.
- Implement the concept on embedded hardware such as Nordic Thingy:91 and nRF52840 platforms.
- Verify the implementation through fuzz testing, penetration testing, and SDR-assisted attack scenarios.
- Evaluate denial-of-service resilience on a multi-node network.
- Publish scientific results and present validated findings internationally.
